Hello! I’m Chelsea. I came to Newcastle from Sydney three years ago to try turn my passion with illustration into something useful… and landed in Visual Communication and Design! Since then, and dabbling in many areas of design, I’ve discovered further interests from illustration in areas such as visual identity, branding and package design.
I am always eager to improve on current skills or learn something more unfamiliar. Recently I have had a strong interest in improving my hand lettering and typography skills. I believe improving in this area will compliment other areas of my design work nicely.
Who inspires you as a designer?
I am inspired by Sha’an d’Anthes. She is an illustrator, artist and author. I love her fun and playful drawing/painting style, the bright colours she uses and she just seems like an all round groovy chick! I listened to her speak at the Make it Made it conference and was inspired by how she chased
after her dreams to get her dream career.
Describe your creative process in one sentence.
One big ol’ mess that somehow always has a resolution!
What are your go-to fonts?
Avenir, Helvetica Nue, and more recently I am loving the display font ‘Lust’.
